Journey Day 437 | CDT Day 100
9/22/87
Good breakfast despite cold, then climb strong to pass for excellent views, group photo. Then down to the 4th of July Mine, up to steep, unnamed pass near Arapaho Glacier. More in snow, then down eventually to treeline and campground at Rainbow Lakes before views ahead including Pike's Peak.
Walk road, Bruce unsure, then catch ride to Bug. Down rough road into Nederland, where we quaff a couple at Marvin's Gardens, watch a logging machine video. On down hill, beautiful cabin, through Boulder out to house, where we toss the frisbee to Jessie. (Bruce's wife) Beth shows, we decide on spaghetti. Showers heavenly. Talk, they crash. I stay up, read, deciding it was likely a grizzly I came across in Glacier, recline before crashing to (Edward Abbey's) Desert Solitaire.
