Journey Day 333 | AT Day 156
8/31/86
Up with the dawn from Cooper Brook Falls Shelter. Skip, aka Seaweed, leads me out without breakfast. At a bad blowdown, I find Skip’s sweater, then pass him. Momentarily lost at Old Antlers Camp at a sitdown at scenic Jo Mary Lake. Push on to Potaywadjo Spring Lean-to, where I find Alfie where he pushed on to last night. Break, refuel, decide to push a big 21-mile day, but still relax for a view of Katahdin from Pemadumcook Lake. Tired, I’m dragging up river to Nahmakanta Lake. Too many stops, nice spring.
After enjoying reflections in the lake, go clammin’ with Alfie. Skip shows, tells of his latest debacle, a six-mile hike back for a sweater I had for him. I’m nearly frozen, but musseled. Hike on a crazy trail up, down, through the lake, finally at the shelter. Cook in the dark. Crash in a shelter with Michael P. Jones, as well as Fox and Dove, Alfie and Skip.
