Journey Day 331 | AT Day 154
8/29/86
Clear, cold morning. Breakfast, then on into the wondrous Gulf Hagas. I have a great time alone amidst the natural wonders. Too soon out to a road junction. Realize it's the wrong junction and hike back on to the trail, decide to bushwhack to the road. Eventually find it, hike out.
After a break, hike up to a new shelter via a new trail along Gulf Hagas Brook. Quick, boggy stop, then climb up Gulf Hagas Peak where I get my first, thrilling view of Mt. Katahdin, the northern end of the A.T. Hike down, then up Gulf Hagas' West Peak, Hay Mountain. Take a break to renew energy level. Then up White Cap for great views of peaks gone by.
Then push down to Logan Brook Shelter, which I share with Fox and Dove, Alfie and Skip, also known as Seaweed, fresh from a night spent under tree limbs, lost from his tent. I eat and crash, tired from a long day.
