Up early. Pack strap snaps on the approach trail. Hike on, bid farewell to the Lithuanians, hike cliffs, climbs to Monument Cliffs for nice views. Meet the Fox and Dove again at the Chairback Gap Lean-to. On down good decline to Pleasant River. Ford the river, on up into Gulf Hagas, a sheer river canyon. Meet Seaweed again, then he heads out.

I hike down to Hammond Pitch, bushwhack along the cliffs, down close to the river in a sheer gorge. End up in an outlaw camp near Buttermilk Falls, off the trail.
