Rain hits early. Wayfaring Man hikes off. I hide in my tent, eventually come out and pack in the rain. Hike out as it continues to rain, down to Big Wilson Steam, which I ford to the campsite, then cross the stream again on a bridge as the rain continues. More road walking, cross tracks of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, back on trail. Ford the Long Pond Stream, meet A.T. section hikers from Pennsylvania who I met at the hostel back in Blanchard. Rain mellows. I hike up and catch Meg and Jeanie, Boston via Lithuania. Hike over Barren Mountain, pass a fire tower in fog. Hike to the Cloud Mountain Shelter. Fox and Dove, a Wisconsin couple pushing 50, join us. They started March 29, but I've never seen them before. They are ready to finish. Fit six inside on the dirt floor. Nice night views, talk as the weather breaks. Crash cozy!
