Breakfast, letters, then out of Monson, adios to Shaw's Boardinghouse, run by an A.T. hiker from Rhode Island with a family making a new life in Maine. Roadwalk with a too-heavy pack. Lazy day, eating, resting. Nice section through the woods, past ponds. "Wayfaring Man," Jerry Olney from New Jersey joins me. We hike and talk, stop at Little Wilson Falls. Then on down to a crossing of Little Wilson Stream, a nice, heavily wooded tent site under clear skies. Talk, then crash to the sounds of a crackling fire.
