High in Vermont, you could see ahead to the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

Up slowly, down to a big breakfast at Kent Pond, almost an all you can eat, came with a bed for $7. Pack up, hike down to boat dock. Hang out, meet the manager's wife's brother, a roadie hippie with a sailboat. We help, Leonard and Jack sail. The cook comes out with an attitude, so I take off with Leonard, leaving Jack. Big climb, pick up a register, leave one, hike on down, through nettles to Cloudland Shelter where kids and counselors from a Vermont camp are set up. We talk, taste their food. Jack shows up, we crash.
