Journey Day 292 | AT Day 115
7/21/86
Up Beacon Hill, down roads. Begin climb, break at Clement Shelter after a mucky, windy hike up and down past a creek. I read the second Larry the Loner comic in the trail register. Bummed by torn up Cooper Lodge, overcast peak, so don't climb Killington. Descend, tired to Pico Camp with a clear view of Killington.
Rest, then push on down to the Inn at Long Trail. Initially closed, but eventually get a room at a bargain price, as well as Guinness on tap and Toasted Almond mixed drinks. Back at room, after run to the store with proprietor's nephew. Eat chili, drink, bathe and shower, watch TV. Pass out. Leonard Adkins shows up after hitching here. Zarathustra, who was at the Cooper Lodge and Boater Bill Goldstein, all in one room for only $14 apiece.
