Journey Day 271 | AT Day 94
6/23/86
Up early. Roger gets his privacy for weather activities. I update, awaken my mind, look at future prospects on the trail in New York and beyond. Nice breakfast, then back up the hill and on down the trail. More views of Greenwood Lake.
Hot hiking along rock ridge, down to the highway with some difficulty. Then back up past Fitzgerald Falls, along a challenging ridge. Back down to the highway, across the New York Thruway into Harriman State Park. Up a road, back on the trail, pass a southbound section hiking couple, then Andy from down south with his tent up.
Maddening trail, very hot, tired hike through gypsy moth deadfall. It's dark as I stumble to Fingerboard Shelter. Fend off raccoon, eat, pitch tent on platform to get away from the bugs.
