Journey Day 261 | AT Day 84
6/13/86
Up, wet pack. on to Sand Spring. Several breaks. Skies finally clearing, but I’m still wet, especially my feet. Through rocks, woods, a steep descent to a bridge over the Schulkill River and into Port Clinton.
Change to dry socks is like going to heaven. Hike to the post office. In time for mail, etc., after all. Down to the hotel, meet Helen Carbaugh, 72-year-old proprietress. Read mail, drink, Yuengling beer on tap, micro-waved sandwich. Call Mom, dry gear, eat home cooking. Kelli, my brother’s wife calls back. Our get together in Boston over the 4th of July seems all set. Shower, eat dinner, write drink, talk with bar crowd, Helen. Finally up to room, listen to cars hiss by. Update, pack, crash.
