Journey Day 260 | AT Day 83

Wet rocks and brush complicated the foggy hike in Pennsylvania.

6/12/86

Up early, push on. Call post office to make arrangements to pick up mail, etc. after hours. Lost near I-81 bridge, a nice local man, sons carry me back to the trail as I hang on. I find the junction on the second try and climb back to the security of the forested ridge. Rocks, fog, wetness, lead to falls. At the Blue Mountain Campsite in good time. Break, then push on through more wet brush, slippery rocks, roads to Schuberts Gap, where I get water and meet a boy’s group with a nasty dog. Push on after a brief exchange. Crash near the Dietrich Monument on the woods’ floor in my tent. Unsure if it rains or my campsite is wettened from wind on the soaked branches above.
