Leonard Adkins, with whom I would eventually start the third leg of the Triple Crown of Hiking.

Up from shelter, push on with a new blister. Bad feeling, so I stop and change my socks, then push on, hit the next shelter with Leonard and other hikers. Hike on, talk as we climb up and down and around. Leonard stops, I hike on to the Devils Race Course shelter after a meeting with a big snake along the way. Leave them and 20 from New Dominican School, push on with the young hikers down a rock ridge to Pen Mar Park. Rest, then talk all the way into a shelter where we crash, although bugs keep us up itching and awake much of the night.
