Up early, out of the shelter ahead of Wolfman. Confused at junction of shelter trail and A.T. Hke right way, then turn back, go wrong way despite maps, compass. After about a mile uphill, decide wrong again, hike back down, finally on the right track. Catch Wolfman again as he ends his break at the Hightop Shelter. We laugh about my miscue, he takes off.

I follow, find him crashed by a bridge in Swift Run Gap, bid farewell and hike on up. Meet day hikers, push on tired and footsore from Nikes wet from the weather. Hot also, sweaty thirst breeding a watermania.

Drink a lot, push on with frequent breaks to Lewis Mountain, pass on this stop in favor of a quiet shelter where I pig out and update.
