Journey Day 229 | AT Day 52

High along the Appalachian Trail in Virginia.

Up late, out of room to P.O. Catch a ride. Get mail, boxes from Barbie, Mom, other mail. Read, eat goodies behind bank. Leave packs at grocery store, hitching when Crazy Clyde Mixon and his friend Lawrence pick us up. We catch a wild ride down to the laundry. Make phone calls, Jack disappears. Clyde comes back, then Jack reappears with a haircut and beard trim. Take Lawrence to Buckhannon, back to country cooking restaurant, where we pig out and marvel at the waitresses. Back to grocery, we make final preparations, hike out of town up road to shelter as darkness hits. Crash…
