Journey Day 198 | AT Day 21

Clearcuts near Max Patch Bald stood out from our vantage point on the trail.

Groggy out of bed. Big double breakfast, then back to room to update journal, prepare for next stretch. Turmoil as I prepare, Elmer and house boy Jeff prepare for rafters. Move to other room, shoe goo, hit bake sale downtown where I go cupcake crazy. Jack and I talk and relax at the French Broad River. Back at The Inn, I turn dirt in the garden for a meal. The work in the earth is good for my soul. Have dinner with rude Randall, two friends, Jeff, Jack, Joe and Elmer. Excellent vegetarian spaghetti, but quickly up to room away from Randall.
