  4/10/86

More walking for warmth after hot drinks. Sunny and brisk down to lower elevations. One break, short stop at gravestones of  a couple whose farm is now on the A.T., according to Elmer Hall, proprietor of the Inn at Hot Springs. Check out hostel, see Brian and Andy. Down to P.O., get mail, pastry and O.J. as David, James come down the street. Spartans join us at the Trail Cafe. We compare trail tales.

Back to The Inn, run by Hall, an anti-nukes 60’s type. Jack there. Move in, shower!  Nice big vegetarian breakfast with a group including Zen meditationists, Elmer, David and Tucker Windover, a philosopher from Kenyon College and Boston, Mass. Do dishes for meal. Sit and talk with hikers, Elmer, crash.
