Morning with frozen bag, ground cloth. Luckily warm drink time. Conserves good water.

Great hike below South Sister. Like from the movies across Wickiup Plain past the moraine of Rock Mesa.

High spirits dashed by cold weather turning to rain. JL down by Obsidian Falls. We almost part here so he can get out quick.  After food he reconsiders and we make Minnie Scott, poor water, but a place to camp.

An angel intervenes. Other campers agree to drive him to Portland. We cook, eat, as rain pelts our vacation time away.
