Journey Day 132 | PCT Day 132
8/26/85
Up with the sun. Chuck limps off to jog. Father down to do dishes. I eat dry to conserve water, pack. They do mass.
I’m off before them. Feeling a little weak. Stop, realize a two-mile mistake to Windigo Pass. Leave a note to warn Father Andrew and Chuck.
Cross pass, road. All forest walking. Mostly downhill. Break after road. Padre and partner catch me as my break stretches out. They pass me. I catch them as they took wrong trail. Hike until their lunch. Bingham Lake swim refreshing. But I can’t do butterfly anymore. My body’s muscles are very specifically toned for hiking.
Nice second lunch with my friends. Slowly we rise. Head out again. Catch Christi Gayle who finishes Oregon today. Her third section. She’s done some impressive hiking. A cute little blonde. I’m so horny, it’s hard to determine if she’s cute or I’m desperate. We hike on to Crescent Lake, talking steadily, hiking easily.
At campground, enjoy good water. Fix dinners. Camaraderie. Then we all separate for different pursuits.
Night falls. I’m still nervous about dawdling as days dwindle. Winter dangers increase. But it’ll be as it’ll be. I plan to finish regardless. Tomorrow business. Then meet J.L. for fun with Three Sisters.
