Journey Day 131 | PCT Day 131
8/25/85
Sunday, so my friends do mass as I get ready to hit the trail. Bid ladies goodbye. Their trip is over. They, like my friends of the day before, seem happy.
It’s back on the trail for me, Father Andrew and Chuck. We head up a good ridge, view Thielsen for the final time. Father and I talk steady and the hike goes quickly. We break for rest, then lunch.
Some climbing to near Tirpso Peak. Check out nice looking Miller Lake, an M shaped forest outlining the lake shore.
More climbs, then saddle hop through forests. We make Tolo Camp comfortably.
Rest, then down to spring. Its ponds stand, scum and brush topped. I drop to look fruitlessly for a better spot. Emergency dump without paper. Take water from clear pool, add iodine. Back on top I make a big dinner. Chuck and I talk past dark. Sleep under stars.
