Journey Day 123 | PCT Day 123

This sign perplexed me in Southern Oregon.

Deer pack wakes me. I’m up and off early. Pass nice spot, spring, make next spring, which has stupid sign. So I bypass, hike on with some good views. On to Hyatt Reservoir. But first there’s a slimy canal ford. Reservoir gross, so pass on swimming. Wash off tennies, hike on.

Make Hyatt Lake area. Break at faucet without sign, where Bureau of Land Management guy gives me false info on Klum Landing. So I lug a gallon of his water over, through logging, up to Old Baldy ridge, down to Howard Prairie Lake. Find trail to lake before Klum Landing road and hike down to shore.

Quick, chilly dip, then find secluded spot for likely illegal camp. Cook as man, son, walk on beach. Unnoticed I eat, crash in tent as bird, clouds gather.
