Playing tourist in Yosemite.

Up and at ‘em, we head to Vernal Falls. This time we make it there. The falls mesmerize me for an extended period. Crowds climb to witness their magic. Head down, film spent. Back on the bus, we head for another meal in a natural version of  Disneyland (Eric likens John  Muir to Mickey Mouse). 20-minute wait for burgers. Crowded everywhere. 600 Taiwanese in town for a celebration.

Finally head out, back to trail. Stop to marvel at climbers. Then drive up to Tuolumne Meadows. Big testing assembly with new pack frame from Matt Eades. Also pack pack, get set for return to hiking. Hectic!

At 5:30 leave for campsite. Eric, who’s joining us for a stretch, is more than ready. Pack strap comes loose. Walking feels unfamiliar. Finally after a beautiful hike we make Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp.

So full from Yosemite Village fare (two cheeseburgers, fries, shake, last piece of party sub, tuna fish sandwich, etc.) no cooked dinner at campsite. Comedy raises bear bags onto special pole. Crash…
