Journey Day 237 | AT Day 60
5/20/86
Break away from shelter, although bad weather lingers. Clearing as we hike down, pass a man with rocks in his pack. Cross Tye River, weather still clearing, nice scenery. Up again to more nice scenery, the Harpers Creek Shelter by a roaring creek. Nice break, lounge on picnic table. Take up the climb again, across three ridges, a challenging hike up and across rocky ridges with occasional views. Break at one view of the Harpers Creek valley, then on up again as weather threatens again.
Rain hits. I go back down trail for Barbie’s pack again, but she says no. I run back soaked. They finally come up. She’s exhausted, shivering and sweating. The dark hits. We crash.
