Up early, Dave and I clown before falling back to sleep. Finally up, feeling lowdown. Shower, food after a big store, bank stop. Also fix glasses, buy a used service-station shirt found by Dave in a used clothing store with my name above the pocket. Dawdle, head out to Pipestem State Park, home of popular hiker gathering. Drive rough roads to get to Bluestone River, great views from above. Down to riverbank. Meet Earl, United Mine Worker retiree, who enjoys flapping his jaw.

Take a tram, catch a beer in the basin. Back up to lodge, meet Barbie's friends at lodge. Then we head to cottage for celebration with Jeff and Betty, who drove us to trailhead at Springboro, Jack's friend Betty and her boyfriend Lytle. We munch, rap, party. I crash early...
