Views off frosty Roan Mountain were beautiful.

Up, we exit and hit the trail at 10 a.m. Over Hughes Gap, then up toward Roan Mountain. Wayne catches us.

We take a break at the gaps with some good, old boys, drink whiskey. Wet slippery snow patches add to difficulty of climb up Roan. Rough, but nice views, though cloudy. Break on Bear Mountain. Push over High Nob, down to Highlands Shelter. Munch and crash.
