Journey Day 202 | AT Day 25

After a walk past garbage along river banks, we reached Nolichucky Campground.

Cold morning hiking. Eat ramps ravenously. Low on energy, but push down long descent to Erwin, Tenn. After a walk past garbage along river banks, arrive at Nolichucky. Take site, leave packs, call Kent Garland from a shuttle list. He’s a great friend, taking Tucker and me to the post office, then to Pizza Hut where we get a great deep-dish pizza, browse grocery store, wowing at selection of delicacies. We call and Kent picks up again. Takes us to our camp and we crash under cover, but wind and rain convince me to pitch my tent in the middle of the night.
