Journey Day 191 | AT Day 14

We hiked across the Fontana Dam into the Smokies.

Hike onto Fontana Dam, where free solar showers and sun bring up my spirits.  No food, no ranger, so without a permit we hike across the giant structure into the Smoky Mountains with Brian, trailname Snaggletooth and Andy from Maryland.

Hard hike up to Shuckstack with great views back to where we’ve come from, the dam area. Long break, then on to Birch Spring Shelter, where the Spartans and James are already camped. Rap, then crash.
