Journey Day 184 | AT Day 7

My backpack was the perfect place to recharge my solar radio on sunny days.

Hike to Bly Gap, crash near gnarly tree we learn marks the Ga.-N.C. border. Hike on into second state. This took me four months on the Pacific Crest Trail. Still this felt good.

On up we go. using solar radio with headphones as I hike into N.C. Nice hiking after a good climb. At Deep Gap, catch Dave and Bosun, plus a couple. They hike on with the couple, we follow. End up on an old trail. Jack goes back. I push on up to Standing Indian with Ted Goodwin, an Atlanta businessman. We talk, make the top, enjoy views of Lake Burton from the highest point.

After wine, we hike back down and over to Beech Gap. Long walk to stream with cans. Talk with Bosun, Dave. We all crash laughing, me under the stars.
