Sunfish Pond, early June 19, 1986.

Up very early, hike out of Delaware Water Gap, across busy bridge into the state park, up to Sunfish Pond, across the Kittatinny Ridge. Again pass day hikers, one with dreams of hiking the A.T. after retirement. Nice views, some from a fire tower. Meet youngsters who tell me of old homes that had been along the ridge road I walked. Apparently the state forced them to move off. Now they’re trying to get back through the development of some kind of “space farms.” Rain starts, bringing my spirits down. Arrive at Brink Road Shelter, a dirt-floored structure. Hedge on camping inside bug-infested area, but glad to stay dry when the rain hits.
