Journey Day 265 | AT Day 88

Boots left hanging above the rocky trail in 1986.

6/17/86
A little slow out of bed, down to the highway for Pepsi and a trash dump at the Gateway Motel. Then up again, hiking a rocky ridge, the rockiest so far to Wolf rocks where dilapidated boots hanging from a branch in the trail tell the story. Nice views!
Then on to Kirkenridge Shelter, where I find a local waiting for Todd. Push on, then rest, bushed, at a road crossing. Hike to a tower area then descend rockily, with views, to Delaware Water Gap. Down road, pass on restaurant. Ask of lady who has hostel key. Luckily it's open. Inside is Jeanie C. with stitches in her knee. I hit the store, blow my money. Back for big eating, then crash.
