Up early, push down Wolf Creek. Megacrossings, but finally reach Bastian. Separate from group. Jack to be in for sidetrip. My replacement pack part hasn’t arrived. Enjoy lazing around Levi’s Café, owned by Levi and Jan Long. Eat, read, talk play dominos with Grama Kate and Roy. Another local, Ruth, helps. Catch a ride up to a cabin where we can stay for free, a bit beat. Unpack, back down for burger and fries. Talk with Levi and Jan, learn A.T. lore. Levi drives me back to cabin. I write and crash.
